If the oil pan of an automatic transmission doesn't have a magnet in it, can you add one when putting it back?

. . . (for trapping stray metal shavings). If the oil pan of an automatic transmission doesn't have a magnet in it, can you add one when putting it back?
yes but make sure you use a magnet that is small enough to fit in the pan and you don't block any intake port or hit the filterIf the oil pan of an automatic transmission doesn't have a magnet in it, can you add one when putting it back?
if its a stamped steel pan you can just stick a strong magnet to the outside and it will work fine.
Sure, good idea just make sure it won't interfere with any moving parts or block fluid flow
