I bent my oil pan and now I hear a loud knocking sound. Do you think the pan is hitting something.?

question number one it. Is it holding oil?

if that is the case, yep the crank is hitting the oil pan, maybe?

all steel has some spring to it. maybe you hit the crank and or rods. so there may be a bent some-thing. It is time to grab a wrench and go lookI bent my oil pan and now I hear a loud knocking sound. Do you think the pan is hitting something.?
How bad did you bend it man? dang ! must be bad if the rods are hitting the pan. Get down there and make sure there's nothing trapped undearneath the car and you're draggin it. If you think it's internal , don't drive the vehicle, drain oil out, replace the pan and pan gasket. If you have problems lining up the gasket holes clean it good and glue it before you put it on ( with automotive glue/ silicon, etc)I bent my oil pan and now I hear a loud knocking sound. Do you think the pan is hitting something.?
I would say the crankshaft is hitting the pan. It's time to remove it and knock out the dent. The dent has also decreased the capacity of the oil sump, which can lead to a dangerous engine lubrication condition.
Pan is not hitting something, something is hitting the pan. Could be the crankshaft or the oil pump was bent and may have lost lubrication and a rod is now knocking.
Most likely the oil pump pick-up and or extension has been pushed up and is interfering with the crankshaft counterweights. Also, the oil pump pick-up may be jammed against the bottom of the oil pan starving the oil pump of oil.

It's best to drop the pan and find the problem before disaster results. You'll most likely need a new oil pan but they are relatively inexpensive.
the cranck could be hitting the pan. thats very bad. dont drive your car anywhere, get a new pan.

good luck
