YOU SPUN A ROD BEARING ON THE CRANKSHAFT.THING IS THE MORE YOU START THE TRUCK TO LISTEN TO THIS';ROD KNOCK'; THE MORE DAMAGE YOU CAUSE BY SCORING THE CRANKSHAFT ,THE BEARING CLEARANCE SHOULD BE NO MORE THAN .003, YOU CAN DO THIS MEASUREMENT WITH A PRODUCT CALLED PLASTIC.HOW EVER IF THE CRANKSHAFT IS OUT OF ROUND OR SCORED YOU LL HAVE TO PRETTY MUCH REBUILD THE MOTOR OR REPLACE IT WITH A NEW OR USED ONE. THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY OVER LOADING A MOTOR,(DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED IN A LOW GEAR)OR BY A LACK OF OIL GETTING IN OR THEW THE OIL JOURNALS (NO LUBE BETWEEN THE CRANK OR CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS.) CHECK AND REPLACE THE OIL PUMP IF NEE ED. ALTO OF FOLK WILL USE THE BLUE,RED,BLACK RV GASKET SEALER FOR VALVE COVERS OIL PANS ETC, THIS STUFF IS NOT OIL RESISTANT IN THE LONG RUN. WHEN YOU TIGHT IN DOWN EVOLVE COVER WITH THIS STUFF THE AMOUNT YOU SQUEEZE OUT ON THE OUTSIDE YA PROBABLY HAVE ON THE INSIDE THIS STUFF BREAKS UP GETS INTO THE OIL PUMP CLOGS IT UP LOWERS THE OIL PRESSURE AND...';WHATS THAT NOISE? KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK AND ROD KNOCK.NEVER USE RTV SILICON UNLESS ITS FOR A GASKET INVOLVING A WATER JOURNAL... WATER PUMP THERMOSTAT ECT. IVE SPUN ALOT OF CRANKSHAFTS ITS DRAG! UNLESS YER CONCERNED ABOUT MATCHING# PULL THAT MOTOR AND REPLACE IT WITH A LOW MILEAGE ONE OUT OF YER LOCAL WRECK-YARD,BUY A GUARANTEE WITH IT IN CASE YA PICK A LEMONI have a 94 gmc pickup when you step on the gas it sounds like someone left a scket in the oil pan.?
Does it also sound like a knocking sound and if it does it is more then likely the rods. It will more then likely be time for a rebuilt or new engine.
Sounds like the connecting rod bolts have come undone.
