1999 Chrysler 300m Oil Pan Threads Stripped?

I got an oil change recently and the mechanics there told me my oil pan treads were stripped. They told me to get a new oil pan which would cost my $450 + $150 labor. Is there anything else I can do instead of buying a new oil pan? Does an oil pan really cost that much? Thanks for all the help.1999 Chrysler 300m Oil Pan Threads Stripped?
Has your car been leaking oil? If not oil pan bolts just don't strip by themselves if it hasn't been leaking oil I would think whoever did the oil change stripped the bolt. You can get a used one out of a dismantler yard then go to the parts store and get the gasket and then have them install it.

A oil pan bolt will only strip if you cross thread it which is really hard to do or you over tighten it1999 Chrysler 300m Oil Pan Threads Stripped?
Go to your local auto parts store and ask for a strip out plug for you make model vehicle also if your plug was not stripped before you might want to seek legal advice about this as it might be bad work at the place where the oil change was done
Unfortunately, yes they do cost that much and more than likely that is all that you can do, but you may be able to have someone rethread your pan, i have been able to do it before (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't).
thats what u get from ';jiffy'; oil change places...rether than 400 oil pan get a plug repair kit from any auto parts store...you put in a rubber plug with a screw out pulg inside it...works great last forever and cost less than 15 dollars.
YOU SHOULD MAKE SOME CALLS YOURSELF ON THE PART, THEN PAY TO HAVE SOMEONE INSTALL. GOOD LUCK.
try a new drain plug first, not an oversize one, just a standard one that is available at any decent auto parts store
