ok i have hoisted the engine 5 inches and still can not get the oil pan to tip out what did i miss or not do1987 mercury cougar and still can not get the oil pan out????

Check the exhaust system and make sure it is out of the way, or you may have to remove the cross member which will probably be beyond your ability. Ask the dealer for some tech support.
