i have a 95 jeep grand cherokee with 111,000 miles on it, i brought it into my friends garage and when we lifted it he said it was leaking oil, he said it was the oil pan gasket. i need to fix that so can i just get a new oil pan gasket and just take off the oil pan off and replace the gasket or do i have to replace the oil pan, and what else would i have to do to fix this problem?95 jeep grand cherokee oil pan gasket?
Heya,
It's pretty easy to pull the pan after draining the oil. Just clean mating surfaces, then re-gasket the pan and cross-torque the bolts to spec.
That's providing the oil pan isn't dented/dinged/damaged along its mating surface.
May as well spring for a new filter and some oil, too. Might want to look into the newer synthetics that're available.
But make sure you've solved any dripping before filling yer crankcase with any high-dollar lube. Don't wanna waste it.
That should do ya, so Good Luck!95 jeep grand cherokee oil pan gasket?
yes you should only have to replace the gasket as far as other things to have to do there shouldnt be any thing else but you might ask your mechanic
You should just be able to replace the gasket unless the oilpan has a hole in it or something. Just the gasket can be replaced but oil can also leak from the rear main seal which is between the engine and transmission thats another place it can leak from.
If the gasket is the only thing leaking you only need to replace the gasket.
yeah you dont have to get a new pan unless you did something to cause a hole in it. just get a new gasket.
Usually all you need is the gasket, Use common sense, if the surface on the pan where the gasket sits looks too damaged, and NOT flat, Get a new pan. Pans are cheap, you can get one at a junk yard for probably 20 bucks. Or online. THe pan for my Mopar 318 was 80$ chromed.
