What's the best way to remove carmelized oil from a stainless steel pan?

I frequently leave olive oil heating in my stainless steel pan and forget about it. It starts smoking and the oil hardens into a dark substance that sticks to the pan. The best way I've found to clean it is dry brillo pads. But it can take an hour of scrubbing or longer to completely clean it. Is there a better way? Maybe a belt sander? What's the best way to remove carmelized oil from a stainless steel pan?
soak in boiling water with a good dose of foam oven cleaner on the pan 1st. should wipe awayWhat's the best way to remove carmelized oil from a stainless steel pan?
Relax it is easier than you think. Fill your pan with water and put a little bit of dish soap in the pan. Heat the pan to boiling for a while. If the bubbles get to much just scoop it off with a spoon. This will break down the food or oil your pan. Then pour it of in your sink. Make for sure you have on hand what is call Bar Tenders Friend. It can be found in the cleaning supplies at Walmart. Take the Bar Tenders Friend and sprinkle it over the spot with oil on it and take a scrubbing pad and scrub it while the pan is hot and it will come off. You may need to sprinkle more then scrub. But I garentee this will work.
