First thing to do, is to remove the oil drain plug, from the oil pan, and catch the oil, in a suitable container, for reuse, later. Once all the oil has drained out, then, you may remove the bolts, that hold the oil pan, onto the bottom of the engine. Once you have this done, you'll need to clean the mating surface, (where oil pan attaches to engine block). You'll also need a new oil pan gasket, if your old one, had one. Some, just have RTV sealant, but, I am thinking, that yours has a hasket. Actually, it would not be a bad idea, to use the RTV sealant, with the oil pan gasket, for a better seal. Once you have the gasket in place, on the new oil pan, set it in place, and, reinstall the oil pan bolts. Once that is done, reinstall the oil pan drain plug, then, refill the engine with oil, and, check dipstick, and, add oil, if needed, to bring up to full. Now, start engine, and, look for leaks, around oil pan. If leaks are found, tighten the oil pan bolts, a little more, then restart engine, and recheck for leaks. If none are found, you are good to go.How do i drop a old oil pan down to replace it with a new oil pan 1993 ford ranger xL3.0 4x4 truck?
