any answers will be appreciated...........How can i change the ';oil pan gasket'; for my 97 accord?
well to change the oil pan gasket all you need to do is remove any obstruction under the oil pan and remove the bolts holding the pan to the block. Possible obstructions are exaust piping and possibly the O2 sensor on the line somewhere. Relatively simple as long as you remove all obstructionsHow can i change the ';oil pan gasket'; for my 97 accord?
some cars have to have the motor removed from the vehical..not sure about your Honda..I have replaced sump gaskets by undoing the engine mounts at the front of the motor %26amp; jacking the motor up far enough to remove the sump %26amp; replace the gasket..
hopefully you got a lift to work on because you got to take the whole bottom end of that car off just to get to the oil pan. after you do that just remove the bolts from the pan. this is not a driveway project with a 6 pack. them honda's got brackets just to hold brackets on. if you got the v6 the only thing you dont have to remove is the exhaust. this job sounds easy and it is if you got the right tools but if you don't you better just let a mechanic do it. thats the worst thing in the world is to start something and find out it is way over your head and then you got to take and tow it somewhere for someone else to finish. us mechanics hate working on stuff like that. it just makes a bigger bill in the long run because we have to figure out the mess you started.
