or what if i'm making pancakes

whats the difference between oils and sprays and butter and stuffWhat are you supposed to use to oil/butter a frying pan with?
the basic differences are in health/calorie-content and in flavor. also, oil can take more heat --butter will burn if you put it on too high of a heat setting. or you can use a combination of the two in order to cook with a high temperature and get the butter's flavor.

i'd use butter for french toast and/or pancakes. olive oil for stir fry. but you can use nonstick spray for just about anything. a lot of it is just a matter of personal preference though.

has some information and also links to specific oils and fats if you want to know more. :)What are you supposed to use to oil/butter a frying pan with?
Vegetable oil is healthier than butter (use canola oil or olive oil). But butter makes things like French Toast and pancakes (which are already unhealthy anyways) taste better.

For stir fry, use vegetable oil or flavored stir fry oil from the international aisle in your grocery store.

If you're scrambling eggs, cooking spray is fine.
For french toast, I usually use margarine. I use cooking spray for pancakes, and olive oil for stir fry.

Get your mom to let you help her in the kitchen. You'll catch on pretty quickly.
