(to enlarge pictures just click on them)How do I replace the oil pan on a 92 ford aerostar?
Oil Pans are beneath the vehicle, so a good pair of lift jackets would help. After you drain the oil from the vehicle there is a bolt that has to be loosened just forward of the pan to drain the system after the draining stops re tighten the bolt. Remove the old pan and clean the area around the seal to remove any fine partical debri prior to instalation of the new gasket %26amp; pan. Then fill the vehicle with oil and away you go. take the old one out and put the new one in durrrrrrrr

What causes shavings in an oil pan ?

There should never be any shavings in an oil pan for any reason. Something is binding and getting ready to go out. Sooner or later you will find ou twhen it breaks. What causes shavings in an oil pan ?
There are a lot of reasons why you could find shavings, but if this is a new car it's normal for some of the metal shavings to appear until after the ';break in'; period. What causes shavings in an oil pan ?
Not good. Sounds like a piston or something that is rubbing.
What kind of car? It could be a bad oil pump, bad main bearings, broken or bad cylinder rings. There will always be a few shavings, but if the oil looks like metalic paint, you have a serious problem.

Has anyone ever removed the oil pan from a 93 2wd s10 pickup with a 4.3 with the motor still in the truck?

Sounds like it would be the same fun as the tranny pan..... I believe the issue would be the Y pipe, other than that, being careful, I dont see why not...Has anyone ever removed the oil pan from a 93 2wd s10 pickup with a 4.3 with the motor still in the truck?
It's kind of hard to understand why anybody would want to.

Can i get to the crankshaft from the oil pan on a 98 chevy cavalier?

Well, if you remove the oil pan, the crank is right there. I'm not sure what you mean by ';get to it';. but yeah, it's there. You can't remove it though without removing the engine. but you can change bearings and stuff. It's a lot easier with the engine out.

  • Why does oil always pool to one side of my frying pan?

Is it because I have cheap frying pans? Uneven stove? Is it supposed to do that? It frustrates me when I am trying to stir fry and such. Any suggestions? Why does oil always pool to one side of my frying pan?
Either your stove or your burner is not level. Adjust it by slipping a samll pieceo of wood under the low side. You need a level to get it perfect. Or just guage it by putting water in the pan and adding a wooden wedge or something sturdy under the leg till the water is level in the pan.Why does oil always pool to one side of my frying pan?
Sounds like your stove is not level. There are legs on your stove that can screw up or down. use a level on top of your stove and screw legs in and out till it is level.

Also could be your pan is warped, if so , you need a new frying pan.
something isn't level starting at the floor and going up the pan itself. Could be any of them.
Purchase a better pan, one with a solid base.
Stove or burner aren't level, or pan is warped. It happens to me too, with old pans that I didn't care for properly..
maybe your stove top isnt level
it is probably that your pan is not level, one of my big frying pans does the same thing but not all my pans so its the pan
either your stove isnt level or the pan isnt level.. Happens to me too~ damn unlevel crap!!!
Your stove may be uneven, there is a leg on the bottom of your stove so you can twist it to even it out more, if you don't have a leg then try putting a piece of cardboard under it.
    Something isn't level.

    Anything you may have mentioned.
    it shouldn't do that...reasons being:

-your frying pan is slanted, either it was bought that way or you took a hot pan off the stove and ran cold water over it, [this warps some pans]

    -your stove is uneven

-your pan is just layn on the stove top so that the strongest part of the heat is at a certain spot on the bottom of the pan. The oil will naturally ';run away'; from the highest concentration of heat

no worries though, it shouldn't mess anything up

How many quarts is a 1990 5.0 Ford Mustang's oil pan?

5 quarts and make sure you pull both drain plugs. The 5 liter ford engine has 2 plugs on your car one in the front and one in the back of your oil pan.How many quarts is a 1990 5.0 Ford Mustang's oil pan?
probable 4 and 1/2 qt if you change the filterHow many quarts is a 1990 5.0 Ford Mustang's oil pan?
actually it is 5.3 quarts with the filter but stop at 5 but this is the correct number of quarts it will hold
5 Quarts Only, with a filter change. Always is and always will be. Have fun:)
    AS MUCH AS YOU ARE
How many did you put there? Seriously, a 5.0 is a small block V/8. Ford's engines require 5 Quarts with the filter. If you change oil and don't replace the filter (stupid idea) you'll only be 4 quarts down.

Oil from frying pan flys onto kitchen wall what to do?

its a brand new house and the cooking range is quite close to the wall, i mean can we like spread something over the walls? and how do u get oil stains off the walls?

im not sure what type if paint the builders used but its definatly not water resistant.Oil from frying pan flys onto kitchen wall what to do?
Put a splash panel up, then you can just wipe it clean.Oil from frying pan flys onto kitchen wall what to do?
To clean the walls from the splattering oil or grease in general, I heard vinegar and water does a good job on painted walls. There are also some degreasing products in the kitchen section of the market that might be suitable if you check the labels.

To prevent the oil from popping all over the place from the pan, you need a 'splatter guard' like this:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/cookthink/2742915594/

They're like a siev but for placing over pans.
You obviously do not have a back splash behind your stove. This is something usually made of ceramic tile, metal or some other material that does not absorb grease splatter and is easily washed that is on the wall behind or around the top of the stove. If these things are not an option, a high gloss paint will work just as well. Do not use wall paper or contact paper!

As for the grease already on the wall, you will need to clean the wall with a degreaser, can be found in the paint section of Lowes or Home Depot. Then paint the wall with a primer (such as KILLS) that will keep any remaining grease from bleeding thru the paint. Then paint with a high gloss paint that will be easier to keep clean.

Hope this helps with your problem!
Take a damp (not soaking wet) sponge with Dawn Liquid detergent.

Also, you can try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, rub gently.

It works for us all the time and does not remove the paint.

Do you use vegetable oil when cooking ground beef in a pan?

I'm not sure if the beef provides its own grease (I'm trying to make Hamburger Helper, I can't cook...)Do you use vegetable oil when cooking ground beef in a pan?
I would spray it with cooking spray.

If you have non-stick you won't need it.Do you use vegetable oil when cooking ground beef in a pan?
it depends on what kind of pan and ground beef you are using, nonstick pan use pan spray no matter what kind of beef it is

regular skillet - use a little olive oil it is better for you, if you don't have use veg. oil just a little

if you are using reg ground beef it should have enough fat in it, if using ground chuck or ground sirloin you will need a little oil

make sure after you cook the meat to drain it (do not pour down sink) before adding the other ingredients

    lots of luck
I make Hamburger Helper all the time. You don't need anything. Not even in a regular pan. The fat from the meat cooks out and the meat will not stick, unless your hamburger is very low fat. While the hamburger is browning just stir and chop it up as it fries. Just follow the directions on the box and it will be fine.
Follow whatever it says on the box. However, I personally very seldom ever use oil. Pan spray is better when cooking meat. Don't use High temp. either or the meat will burn on the outside %26amp; be raw inside. If I must use oil, I use either olive or canola. Not near as many (if any) trans fats.
No, meat comes with enough grease! it doesn't matter if you have a non stick pan or not. No additional oil lis neededs. defrost your meat and cook until it is completely brown. If you are cooking it and the pan you use starts to smoke, the temperature is up to high.
No, you don't need to use oil, the beef has plenty of grease.

Make sure to drain the grease out the pot before you add the other ingredients in the box or it might come out slimy.
In a nonstick pan, you don't need any.

Any other pan, you can spray the pan with cooking spray or just use a small amount of oil. Maybe a tablespoon and spread it around the skillet with a spatula.
The beef will have enough fat. You will also need to drain the fat after the beef is fully cooked. Otherwise, the hamburger helper will taste terrible. Drain as much as possible before going to the next step.
No, the grease from the beef will be plenty enough. be sure to drain it off though. :) i %26lt;3 Hamburger helper just had some last night :D. hope you enjoy
    I use peanut oil

a tsp just to coat the bottom
    I would use beef broth.
no! never! once meat starts to brown it releases oils

What size wrench do i need to take the bolt off of my oil pan on a 1999 mercury tracer?

buy a set not just one tool ... and you can buy a adjustable one that will do the job.. and dont forget to buy a oil filter wrench ... a set of tools is always a smart thing to have really if your going to be working on your on car ore fixing one that is broken down on the road side they will last a life time... buy a small set any store autozone or walmart ubetween 25 and 50 bucks then you wil always have the right tool for the job.. buying one at a time will cost you more. and 14 or a 20mm i think... adjustable wrench ten bucksWhat size wrench do i need to take the bolt off of my oil pan on a 1999 mercury tracer?
You mean the drain plug. I don't know exactly, but you can use a largish adjustable wrench as long as it's high quality. If you aren't comfortable using tools, forget the adjustable. You can strip the bolt. Go crazy and take a few sizes under the car with you. You aren't going to save that much over a quick lube place, but hey...go for it. What size wrench do i need to take the bolt off of my oil pan on a 1999 mercury tracer?
I went to Sears and bought a ';box end wrench'; 16mm on one end and 18mm on other end. It fits about 99% of drain bolts on oil pans. The 16mm is close to 5/8 inch and the 18mm is fairly close to 3/4 inch. I used it when I worked at a Ford dealer ship and never found a Ford product it wouldn't fit.
    99mercury tracer is probly a 9/16th wrench or a metric 14...
    pay the 25 dollars.

  • How bad is it to cook boneless skinless chicken breats in a frying pan with extra vigin olive oil?

    Is it high in fat?

    Is it high in cholesterol?

I usually bake boneless skinless chicken breasts. But, a recipe I want to try says to cook the chicken in extra virgin olive oil. How bad is this for me?How bad is it to cook boneless skinless chicken breats in a frying pan with extra vigin olive oil?
Frying chicken breasts in extra virgin olive oil is probably the best thing you could do short of baking them. Olive oil (especially extra virgin) is one of the best things on the planet for you. It's high in monounsaturated fat, which your body needs to metabolize certain vitamins. Oh, did I mention olive oil is a great natural appetite suppressant and helps get your cholesterol levels where they need to be? Getting olive oil into your diet, any way you can, is good for your health. And if you're frying boneless skinless chicken breasts, you'll have VERY LITTLE saturated fat and VERY LITTLE cholesterol. How bad is it to cook boneless skinless chicken breats in a frying pan with extra vigin olive oil?
awesome, its such a quick dinner to make. now i just need to force myself to run/walk everyday :) Report Abuse

All cooking oils (the good ones and the bad ones) are about 100 calories per tablespoon. If you are trying to lose weight then you might want to consider using a non-stick pan instead.
It doesnt sound bad to me. Olive oil is the healthiest you can cook with. Just dont turn the heat too high because it burns easily.
The only real problem with frying is the compound you fry it in. In your case with EVOO you're fine. Canola is good to fry with too. otherwise, the only difference is the method of heating, right? As long as you only use a tablespoon or so, and don't coat in in something unhealthy, then you're totally fine. No different than baking! Just make sure not too cook too hot...EVOO smokes easily.
I haven't a clue as to how many calories, etc. but I do know that cooking in olive oil is said to be much better for you than vegetable oil. You should Google it for the fat and calorie content. Or, just look on the bottle of olive oil.
The olive oil has a lot of fat, but it is a good type of fat, so enjoy!
That is actually one of the healthiest ways to cook it. Olive oil is the only oil that is easily processed by your body, it is actually good for you. Plus it doesn't dry out the chicken like baking it does.

How long do I fry chicken cutlets? Also, how much oil should I use in the pan?

I want them to be nice and moist. They are the thin sliced cutlets. How long do I fry chicken cutlets? Also, how much oil should I use in the pan?
well when i make cutlets, i dip them in beaten egg, the coat them with breadcrumbs or cornmeal, ( cornmeal is healthier and crunchier), and fry two or three at a time in a hot pan with about 1/4 cup oil.... make sure the oil is hot before you put your chicken in the pan or the coating soaks up the oil and gets soggy. about 2-3 minutes on each side on med hi... you can tell when it is cooked because the meat turns from pink to white....

cook the same amount of time without the breading on it....How long do I fry chicken cutlets? Also, how much oil should I use in the pan?
    Thin is an arbitrary term.

    But...

The oil should just barely be enough to cover the bottom half of the thickest cutlet.

Then once the oil is hot enough, the cutlets should be cooked no more than 1 minute on each side. First try 1 cutlet to see if it is all cooked thru. IF not, extend the cooking time by about 15 seconds on each side. If after only 1 min on each side, they are not moist enough, reduce cooking time by 10 secondes on each side.

    Good Luck

On my 93 f150. I have the oil pan off I just need advice on the oil pump.?

the pump works by squezing the oil through two gears. and this cereates pressure.. if you are uncertain replace it and the filter.. its cheap.. the only thing that can go wrong is a pressure relier valve ..but i never heard of any trouble. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/items/___W0Q鈥?/a> here are some pumps why do you want advise.. make shure you clean that pan so you could eat from it and install good gaskets. ok.On my 93 f150. I have the oil pan off I just need advice on the oil pump.?
You arent giving much information, what do you kneed to know about the oil pump?On my 93 f150. I have the oil pan off I just need advice on the oil pump.?
Just make sure you install it with a torque wrench. Most oil pumps do not have a gasket between the block and pump. It is very important to have the pick up tube/screen installed exactly as you found the original. there's normally a slight angle to the pick up tube/screen and this needs to be duplicated on the new tube/screen. Best to take the old pump with the tube/screen still attached to a machine shop and have them pound the new tube/screen to the pump and finish it with a small weld or braze to keep the tube from moving or falling out after the new pump is installed. Also, use one of those high performance steel collared oil pump shafts rather than the old shaft with the plastic sleeve that always crumbles with age.

Since you have the oil pan off and the engine upside down you might as well change the main and rod bearings since this is the #1 cause of low oil pressure. Changing the pump will not change the pressure if the bearings are worn out of spec's.

    Good Luck!

Why does my husband put olive oil in the pan and then immediately take a paper towel and wipe it out?

this drives me crazy, I want to know if I am wrong or is he wrongWhy does my husband put olive oil in the pan and then immediately take a paper towel and wipe it out?
He is coating the pan prior to cooking and does not want the extra oil in it. Olive oil is however very pricey, so why doesn't he buy the olive oil spray. This way he can just spray the pan without wasting oil and a paper towel to boot....Why does my husband put olive oil in the pan and then immediately take a paper towel and wipe it out?
He is seasoning it. Basically what that is, is a way of keeping the pan non stick such as a cast iron skillet. This is a perfectly normal thing to to and helps preserve the life of the pan.
It perfectly greases the pan just enough. I do it too. Let something else drive you crazy.
He's seasoning the pan. That's usually a good thing.
Usually this is done on cast iron skillets only. Its supposed to help ';season'; the pan I guess. It helps the cast iron from becoming dried out.
I just got a set of teflon pans and they recommend using a light coat of oil after you wash them.
well lots of people use olive oil as a non stick material. so, by wiping it off he is just making sure that large amounts of it arent left over. It doesnt matter if any reminents are left over, because they will just cook away, but hes right, but that doesnt mean your wrong, its just his way of doing it.

I don't know, maybe 3 cups? I use a good blob of butter or sometimes if available some rendered down possom fat.How much vegetable oil should I add to a pan for one egg?
I put about a half a teaspoon, then take a paper towel and grease the bottom of the pan with the oil absorbing the rest. All you need is a light coating to keep the egg from sticking.
It depends on what size pan you are using. No more than two table spoons. If it is a small frying pan then use one table spoon.
Just enough to cover the bottom of the pan where you will be placing the egg.
I use a couple of tablespoons of bacon grease! GREAT flavor!
a table spoon should be fine
just rub a little butter in the pan.
None-- use a little bit of butter instead. And a non-stick pan
No oil, just a teaspoon of butter.

If it is the heavy black pan, you don't want to remove it. It protects the finish and helps to not have hot spots. Just wash the inside as you do dishes, and wipe the outside.
When all else failed [on my expensive stainless steel fry pan] I got out my orbital sander and sanded away, finished it off with s.o.s. pad and good as new. The oil was burned on so badly my only choice was to throw it away. That was two years ago and it is still in the family.
I was gonna say the same thing, do a real good soaking the night before that really does work, then scrub it off with any kind of pad like steel wool or chore boys with lots of soap and hot water. It should work and may take a while.
make a paste of vinegar and cream of tartar, put it on the pan and let it set for a few minutes and it should come off
You will have to soak it over night with a paste of salt, baking soda, and Dawn dish detergent (it breaks it down).

Lastly add a little bit of water - be careful not to dilute the solution to much, just enough to get the mixture going.

Once you've entered to the next morn., kind of work with it using your dishcloth using pressure to help release the stain. If it still persist pour some of the solution out, and add a little vingar %26amp; a little more salt so that the grit from the salt can be your mild abrassive) to help romove the rest..........and your pan will look pratically new!!

*I personally use this method myself when I run into this problem.
As with anything that has burnt onto a metal pan, I will soak overnight, or place water in the pan and allow pan to heat up on stove top.. then let it soak. You may wish to add a bit of dawn dish soap. Scrub lightly, and re-soak again, if need be, and continue to do so, until you get the mess out.

    Good luck!
fill it about half full of soapy water and simmer it on the burner for about 30 minutes then rinse it well. should be ok.
If it is stainless steel (without a coating), getting some SOS pads and some gloves. Then scrub a dub dub.
Soak it in metal cleaner for a day or two. Use bleach and then thoroughly wash it.
soak overnight with a tsp of baking soda %26amp; enough water to cover the burnt area, then scrub %26amp; wash it off.

Do you cook lettuce, like stir them around a frying pan with a little oil. or cook them in a little water till?

asians i think cook lettuce more than americans. so i wonder.Do you cook lettuce, like stir them around a frying pan with a little oil. or cook them in a little water till?
My GF tosses it into her soup for about a minute - Max - before turning off the fire. Many Locals use it as decor in dishes e.g. they place it on a plate then a fried fish on top then pour the gravy. Most leave the lettuce on the serving plate-i.e. they don't eat it.

I just wash my lettuce with a bit of salt water when I eat salad.

How do i change a oil pan gasket on a 97 ford taurus gl?

Easy. Take it to a mechanic shop. How do i change a oil pan gasket on a 97 ford taurus gl?
Get the Chiltons or Haynes books on the Ford Taurus that covers your model year, for specific directions.

In general, you raise the car enough to work comfortably beneath it, and drain the engine oil. The pan is usually held on with a number bolts that must be removed. Take the pan off, then remove the gasket from the mating surfaces. At this point, you need to reference the manuals, as you might need a specific gasket part, or they might tell you to use a silicon compound as the gasket. Make sure you don't take any shortcuts on the gasket, follow the directions. Once the gasket is replaced, bolt the pan back up. Lower the car, refill with oil, and check for leaks! Tighten as necessary. How do i change a oil pan gasket on a 97 ford taurus gl?
Go to an auto parts store and get a new gasket for that make and model first. Jack off oops, Jack up the car and take off the oil pan. Scrape off the old gasket and put the new one on. You can hold it in place by a few drops of oil. Bolt the oil pan back in place. By the way, you should have drained the oil pan before removing it.
buy gasket... go to mechanic...if you want to do it ....then drain the oil. remove exhaust pipe, remove oil pan install in reverse order. good luck

transmission fluid cant get into your oilpan.I have a 1991 Mazda where Transmission fluid leaks into the oil Pan. Why? How? what to do to Fix it??
If your trans. is equipped with a modulator valve. this valve is operated from a vacuum at the Intake. If the diaphram of the modulator ruptures, fluid will be pulled by vacuum into the engine. First indication, you'll leave a trail of white smoke also.
If it's in the oil, then someone put it in.

Like he said, that ain't happening.
Are sure somebody wasn't trying to put transmission fluid in your car and put it in the crankcase by mistake? If so do an oil change soon.

  • How do you get olive oil off of a stainless steel pan?

It is brand new. It is sticking on after doing a bit of stir fry. We tried using soap and water and heating a bit more oil on to get it off to no avail. How do you get olive oil off of a stainless steel pan?
Use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I use them to get cooked on or baked on gunk. How do you get olive oil off of a stainless steel pan?
Olive oil is liquid at room temperature, and is less dense than water. If you hold the pan at an angle and pour or spray water onto it, the oil should float on top of the water and slide off. Of course, the water may slide out from underneath more quickly than the oil moves, so it may take a couple of sprays, but it shouldn't be too hard.
Use a brillo or SOS pad. The metal won't damage the stainless and the soap is pretty strong. Just make sure you scrub with the current grain of the stainless steel to not make it look like it's been scrubbed out in a random pattern.
Try dumping some baking soda in there and make a really stiff paste with a little water. Scrub with a sponge or what have you, rinse well and wipe dry.
    Use a stainless steel cleaner.

Aluminum are the worst;A Costly Lesson;I give it free;If I have an oil pan gasket leak is it more than likely is the gasket? Or could it be a variety of things?
It could be the gasket. I would use a little bit of common sense and get the vehicle to a shop that will lift your car for free and check it out. It could be a variety of leaks, put some dye in the oil and drive it for a couple days and see.
oil pans can get bent crack or develop small holes from rust. also drain plug gaskets can cause leaks
Yes it is most likely the gasket that is leaking, but are you sure that it is not coming from the main bearing seal? It is located at the back of the oil pan where most main bearing seals leak. Whereas the pan gasket is flat the seal will have a hump on it. Be sure to check that out.
if this is a contemporary car were talking about (front wheel drive) i wouldnt be too concerned about the rear main seal leaking, but if this car is rear wheel drive i would check further to make sure its not the rear main seal which is located where the transmission mates to the engine.

You didn't say what kind of motor, there are two kinds for that year, aluminum and cast iron...if you have a flex plate shield, remove that, there may be two bolts behind that. There are one or two bolts where the axle comes out the transmission that you can't see where the passenger side axle hides them. As far as a website, I'd suggest typing in 92 pontiac grand am diagrams and how to's and seeing what google brings up. Good luck with this...if you can give more detail as to what liter your engine is and whether it is cast iron or aluminum.I am having problems getting my oil pan off a 1992 pontiac grand am?
loosen up the motor mounts and raise the engine.that should clear it for removal.
once the bolts are out, you need to take a flat screw driver and pry the pan off because the gasket has sealed it to the metal.
it should come off of it ,,if the starter is off ,and out of the way ,it may be stuck on it really good sometimes they stick up there real hard also double check that all the bolts are out, other wise you,ll warp it when you try to pry it off,,good luck,,i hope this help,s.

a cookie sheet is meant for baking things, where as a pan is meant for the frying things on the stove. Can auto transmission fluid somehow leak into the oil pan?
The only thing I can think of is if you had a bad rear main seal on the engine and a bad pump seal on the tranny causing auto trans fluid to enter the crankcase that way even tho it is highly unlikely. Check the bell housing where the tranny and engine hook up. if you got tranny fluid or oil leaking from there that might be your problem but I would seriously not bet on it, thats kind of a crazy coincidence for something like that to happen. Can auto transmission fluid somehow leak into the oil pan?
only if someone put it accidentally from engine fill and this can happen ....

but should not cause any severe damage if the problem rectified on time...(with the first 10 k's)

After cooking what is the best way to get rid of the extra oil that is left in the pan?

I don't want any grease or oil going down the drain, because it causes clogging. After cooking what is the best way to get rid of the extra oil that is left in the pan?
~I'm Italian/Polish. We soak it up in a nice bread and eat it. Better to clog our arteries than our sinks. After cooking what is the best way to get rid of the extra oil that is left in the pan?
I pour it in an old soup can from the recycle bin and let it cool then toss it. But I have no garbage disposal either.
Add little soap and water in pan and through out side in yard over the weeds on the driveway or any where have weeds.soapy water and oil kills the weeds,
    Drink it
If you mean veg oil, save it. Re-using it is no problem. Some strain it first, but it keeps just in a jar in the cupboard for quite some time. Some places even have you collect it in a jar and put it in the recycle portion of your trash. They recycle it to make bio-diesel fuel.
I use paper towels to sop it up %26amp; put it in the trash can.
Well you can put it into an empty milk carton (cardboard) and put it in the garbage or search the internet for a way to use it to make suet for birds.
Use it to kill the weeds in your garden
I save like a leftover spaghetti sauce jar, clean it out, dump my grease / oil, put the lid back on and when its full I put it in the garbage can and take it outside.
I keep an empty Crisco can in the freezer. When full of oil and grease I toss it out. What ever you do,do not pour down the drain with hot water. The water is not hot enough to keep the grease from coating your drain pipes.
after you fry your meat, open a can of green beans to go with. then pour the grease into the can, stuff a couple of paper towels into the can, and throw it away.
use non-stick pan.when u use non-stick cookware than u no need much oil for cooking.
Get hot water running in your sink, then poor it down the drain mixing in with the hot water. That way it flows on down and doesn't go solid on the cold sink or plug up the pipe.
When I use oil and don't want to throw it out, I usually strain it and put it into a bottle to use again. If you don't want to use it, then get a plastic bottle and put it in there and throw it out.

Yes, you just have a little HyperPigmentation. Use so Vitamin E %26amp; K cream daily, and it should recover in a few weeks. If you feel concerned, see your Dr., but it should be fine.I was cooking and the splash of the oil in the pan came off onto my chest and now there is a mark, will it go?
If it is a grease burn. You will have discoloration on your chest.

That will eventually go away. But there are some ointments out there that will help fade that mark sooner. It's called Sebo de Macho. I'm not sure though if there is a product like this in the US as this one is locally manufactured here in the Philippines. Some people sell this one on Ebay, but the pricing is way too high... http://www.beautybentobox.com/apollo-sebo-de-macho-scar-remover/

The ointment is greasy and that particular brand on the link does not emit bad smell. I can attest to it because my sister used this product after she got chicken pox all over her body.I was cooking and the splash of the oil in the pan came off onto my chest and now there is a mark, will it go?
It will go. Its just a little burn. I did this with paint stripper. A few splatters got on my chest and left marks. All gone now. You could put some antiseptic cream on to keep it clean. Apparently most scars are due to infected wounds.
It will go away with time. Aloe vera gel is the best thing to put on it.

I used to work in fast food and I had burn marks on my arms from biscuit pans. They went away after I changed jobs.
    If you can get some Silver Oxide, this will help the scar to heal more quickly, I should know, I do scar easy and have tried everything;;;;;;;;;

the moisture. Then I have the whole ';pat out the oil'; process with paper towels. There must be another way such as baking it?What is the best way to cook eggplant? I have pan cooked it in vegetable oil or butter, but it soaks up all?
    INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

1 eggplant, cut into 3/4 inch slices

    1 1/2 tablespoons salt

    8 tablespoons olive oil

    8 ounces ricotta cheese

    6 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    1 egg, beaten

    1/2 cup chopped fresh basil

    4 cups pasta sauce

    DIRECTIONS

Sprinkle both sides of the eggplant slices with salt. Place slices in a colander, and place a dish underneath the colander to capture liquid that will sweat out of the eggplant. Allow to sit for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta, mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Mix in egg and basil.

Rinse the eggplant in cold water until all salt is removed. In a large skillet, heat 4 tablespoons olive oil over medium heat. Place one layer of eggplant in the pan, brown each side. Repeat with remaining eggplant slices, using additional oil if necessary.

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, evenly spread 1 1/2 cups of spaghetti sauce. Arrange a single layer of eggplant slices on top of the sauce. Top the eggplant with 1/2 of the cheese mixture. Repeat layering process until all the eggplant and cheese mixture is used. Pour remaining sauce on top of layers, and sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese.

Bake 30 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, until sauce is bubbly.

    Another : INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1/3 large eggplant

    1 egg

    1 tablespoon water

    1 cup dry bread crumbs

    1 tomato, chopped

    1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    1/4 cup Italian-style salad dressing

    :

    DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet or pizza pan with olive oil.

Slice the eggplant into 8 round slices, each 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Trim the skin, maintaining the round shape of the slices. In a small bowl, whip together the egg and water. Place the breadcrumbs in a separate small bowl.

Dip the eggplant slices one at a time into the egg and water mixture, then into the breadcrumbs. One by one, place the coated slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet or pizza pan. Top the slices with equal amounts of tomato, Parmesan cheese and Italian-style salad dressing.

Bake in the preheated oven approximately 15 minutes. Change oven setting to broil, and continue cooking 3 to 5 minutes. Check the slices frequently while broiling to avoid burning.

EGGPLANT DIP : Eggplant and Garlic Dip

    Ingredients:

2 small eggplants, pierced with fork

    1 small onion, chopped

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

3 tablespoons fresh parsley (or 2 teaspoons dried)

    Preheat oven to 450潞F.

Place whole eggplants in baking dish; bake for 40 minutes or until very soft, turning once. Remove from oven, cut in half and let stand until cool enough to handle. Scoop out pulp.

In food processor, place eggplant pulp, onion, garlic, lemon juice and parsley. Process until smooth.

Serves 6What is the best way to cook eggplant? I have pan cooked it in vegetable oil or butter, but it soaks up all?
I like to grill them, but I also like to roast them in the oven too. To roast them, Cut off the green tops, and either peel totally with a vegetable peeler, or peel off alternate strips, making a stripey pattern on the skin (not too much skin to get in the way oncecooked, but it does hold them together a bit too). Slice into 1 1/2-2 cm (3/4';-1';) thick coins. Toss with a little bit of olive oil and salt, and dried herbs if you like. Roast at 500F/260C, turning occasionally, adding more oil of totally necessary, until the aubergine pieces are very soft and darker in colour. Add squeeze lemon juice, fresh herbs if you like, and serve as a vegetable side dish.

    _____________
I cut in in 1/2 and then slice it, saute it with garlic (lots of it) and onion. Sometimes I add mushrooms and a can of diced tomatoes with the oregeno. Or I use fresh herbs.

You can also put everything listed above in foil and throw it on the grill.

Hint: you can also add yellow squash to this!
I like to peel it, cut it into ';fingers';, dip into an egg/milk wash, then roll into seasoned Italian breadcrumbs. Fry. Upon removing from oil and draining, sprinkle w/ grated parmesan chz and serve w/ warm marinara sauce for dipping.

I stripped the threads on my oil pan.?

Don't feel too bad, this is pretty common. You can usually get an over sized plug to start by applying a lot of pressure on it as you slowly turn it.

I don't recommend a rubber plug - if it fails, the results can be disastrous.
Heli coil kit or get a rubber plug that you insert %26amp; twist.

Carl Edwards Oil Pan Cover Thing? Will someone explain to me?

what they are talkin' about and how that affected the performance of the car.Carl Edwards Oil Pan Cover Thing? Will someone explain to me?
Think of it this way, if you were traveling down the highway at 60 mph with your windows down, there would be a lot of turbulance and pressure inside the car. If you had a 4'; diameter access panel on the back floorboard and you opened it up revealing the ground below, the turbulance and pressure would have a place to escape via that hole. That's the simple explanation.

In a stock car at 190 mph that makes a huge difference. It doesn't actually create more downforce, what it does is reduce lift. IE air under the car trying to push up.

Your passenger car has a ';Wet Sump'; oiling system. In other words, the motor oil is stored inside the engine in the oil pan and has an internal oil pump. A Nascar engine has a ';Dry Sump'; oiling system meaning there is no oil strored inside the engine, instead it's stored in a tank where the back seat would normally be. They hold atleast 15 quarts. The engine has an external, belt driven oil pump that pumps the oil from the tank, through the engine and back to the tank.

The tank is mounted up in the car through the bottom and the bottom of the tank is open to the track/ground in the event it should rupture or catch fire then it would release down to the ground instead of into the interior with the driver.

Now, There is a big sheetmetal box that covers and seals the oil tank completely from the interior to gaurd the driver from said rupture or fire and also from the heat of the oil during a race.

There is a small access panel on the top of that big sheetmetal cover to allow access to the oil tank cap where they add oil.

The small access panel on the big cover is what was missing on Edwards car. Since there's space around the oil tank and big cover which is open to the ground, that's where the pressure release would happen and were one might gain an advantage.

Hope this makes since.Carl Edwards Oil Pan Cover Thing? Will someone explain to me?
The buck-toothed thug was cheating again. He drives a Ford, how else is he going to have a chance?
It allowed air into the car giving it more downforce. Toyota said yesterday that they had done a test with the cover off and it gave them something like 140Ib of downforce, which is a lot
Check this out, it is a pretty good article about it.
The cover was left off and that created more downforce which made the car have more grip and could run faster in the corners!!!!!!
With the lid off it helps create downforce=speed.

TO djskooby with all the engineering put into these cot`s why hasn`t anyone used lockwashers on the bolts I mean you guys are all mechanics isn`t it time to use your heads for more than just hatracks?
missing the oil cap creates more downforce on the car which in turn creates more grip from the tires. It also creates 21%more horsepower because more air creates more power. I am a dedicated carl edwards fan and I firmly believe that nascar has a flaw in the design of their car of today because other drivers in the daytona 500 were fined and docked points for loose oil caps. Jack rousch stated that vibrations will make bolts come loose and that is true. Other drivers are arguing that point but keep in mind that they are drivers and not mechanics. I am a mechanic myself and I know for a fact that bolts do come loose from vibration. I'm sure that if they search LV motor speedways track they will find his bolt/cap. I suggest that they lift all fines and suspensions and reinstate his points. Nascar inspectors and officials tend to overthink. they can't see that there is an obvious problem with the cars that they designed. also f you kingpin. carl edwards and his crew are good non cheating honest people.

If there is a blister, leave it alone, do not pop it. Let it heal naturally. Soon after you should have put ice on it but probably too late now. Once the blister goes away, there is a tube of product that looks like a big lipstick tube but it contains 100% natural pure cocoa butter. Get it at any reputable drug store. Apply that twice a day and in about a month, there will be little or no evidence. Someone told me about this when I got shot. I rubbed it twice a day on the wound and today there is almost no evidence other than a slight bump. I also used it after I had surgery on my neck and that was a year ago and unless I point it out to someone, the scar is nearly invisible.

    I hope this helps.

PS: if it was a 3rd degree serious burn, you should see doctor to avoid and infection and tissue damage.I was cooking and the splash of the oil in the pan came off onto my chest and now there is a mark, will it go?
No, it will not go away. I am saying this from personal experience. I got a splash of hot oil burn while frying fish. It was on my face. I thought it will go away but it did not for almost a year. When I went to doctor, I was told I should have gone immediately. anyway, she gave me an ointment as I cook a lot and tend to get burn. That ointment was to apply as soon as I get burn and for the old scar mark I had to apply some other ointment for a long time before the scar is reduced but not completely gone. It is lot better thoughh

    Hope this helps
If you mean a burn mark, then most likely it will scar. You can use creams like Neosporin to help prevent infection and reduce the scarring.

If you're lucky, the marks will not scar, but I'm sorry to tell you that burn marks tend to stay for life.
Always treat a burn straight away by running under cold water. It takes out somne of the heat which continues to burn. Then rub pure Lavendar oil on the spot, the contents of a Vitamin E capsule or pure aloe vera gel if you have some or if you have a plant in your house.

    Best wishes.
If you are talking about your bare chest, yes it will go away.

If you are talking about your clothes, I have found that if you put a little Dawn dish detergent (the kind with bleach added) it will bring out the stain. The bleach is not enough to ';bleach'; your clothes white.
yes, this has happened to me many times. It will go away soon. it is just a minor burn, try not to irritate it, and put a small amount of aloe vera on it to take the burning away. If it continues to irritate you or becomes infected, go see a doctor and have him/her take a look at it.
    it should be fine

just put some anti-burn cream on
Yes, you can put some cream you can also put a little butter
I got a grease burn on my arm about six months ago, and I still have a scar, no matter what I put on it.
It will go away but it doesnt hurt to put something like cocoa butter or neosporin on it to reduce scarring
It is just a burn and will go away. Use some Neosporin to help heal it faster.
Make sure you put some vitamin e oil on it.
the best thing to use is Witch Hazel it is a skin toner and it will bring your Color back
use fucidene ointment 2 daily or any ointment contains silver compounds
Put some anti-burn cream on it. It should heal in a few days.

How to put in a oil pan in a 91 ford van?

depending on the engine 6 cyl are easier V-8 engine take it to a shop that has necessary hoist engine holders and method to get the motor high enough to remove the oil pump pick up and pan out of the back by the transmission. Crappy job very dirty and the parts have to be flat and clean to reseal. Just cleaning enough for reassembly is more than a driveway mechanic should attempt. How to put in a oil pan in a 91 ford van?
Well, first you may have to remove the old one. By rasing the motor enough for clearance. But if still can't get the pan out, then you may have to pull the motor, or drop the whole front suspension, and crossmember, to access it. Either way, doesn't sound too good to do. Good luck.
you didn't say whether it was off ,,or you are going to take it off, there not that bad to take off,,and replace,,just look at it and see what you might have to remove to get it off,,and putting it back on will be the reverse of this,,i hope this helps.

What to do strip oil pan bolt?

i stripped the oil pan bolt trying to change the oil and now i cant get it off what can i do?What to do strip oil pan bolt?
Slide a flat blade screwdriver tip between bolt head and oil pan, apply pressure and turn oil plug at the same time. What to do strip oil pan bolt?
If the head of the bolt is less than 3/4';, go to a parts store or a hardware store %26amp; buy a ';Gator Grip'; socket. This type socket works on just about anything as long as you didn't twist the head off flush with the oil pan.
if it,s loose stick a screwdriver under the head and use a wrench, maybe it will catch thread.or use vise grips and pull out and turn it the same time.
you mean you rounded the head. well you have a couple of choices , try to pound on a slightly smaller socket with a hammer and try that or, get yourself a good pair of flat ended vice grips, apply alot of locking tension and give it a go, you may find if it is a steel pan try heating it slightly with a torch around the plug. (only if its really stubborn)

if none of these work you will most likely have to remplace the pan and gasket
Go to any autoshop store or hardware store or sears and get a bolt or nut extractor kit. Anywhere from $10-$40 depending on the number of different sizes the kit comes with and the brand name. These extractors bit into the nut or bolt as you turn it and it will come off. Problem solve.
Hes absolutely right. Although if you do get it out with vise grips you should check the threads in the pan itself. if damaged you could re-tap them to a bigger size, i dont recommend doing that tho- best to just replace pan and gasket, BSTS

  • What do i do my cats covered in chip pan oil?

cats jumped up onto the cooker, and knocked the chip pan onto herself, shes covered in oil, ive showered her but its still on her,,, helpWhat do i do my cats covered in chip pan oil?
Try Fairy liquid. What do i do my cats covered in chip pan oil?
Oh dear; sorry to hear about this, cats do do silly things. Oil will be a nightmare to get out and you really don't want her licking too much off herself or she will get sick.

I'm afraid drastic measures may be in order. It may be necessary to shave and then wash the skin. If this doesn't sound like something you can do (I wouldn't be able to on my cats) and yu don't know any cat groomers then speak to your vet, the vet or vet nurse will be happy to help and if necessary they have sedetives to help things along.
Haha! Sounds like something my cats would do! Once my cat jumped up onto a cabinet, knocked a load of videos off it, which then came crashing down onto a plant! XD

    Anyway, lol!

In all seriousness though; you should buy some proper cat shampoo. It'll take a while to wash out (and the cat won't exactly ';enjoy'; it) but it should hopefully help. It's important you wash it ALL out because you don't want your cat licking it; even if it IS made for cats!

Also; don't bath your cat too often as this will make the skin produce even more oil!

I've had a similar problems with my cat. She gets oil on herself from under cars. I wash off as much as much as I can, then the black mark left just gradually fades away. By the way - she's all white! Lol! So you can imagine the trouble she has with stains! XD

Lol! I hope that helped and GOOD LUCK!!!

P.S. Don't use Fairy Liquid! Common sense, people! XD

I would phone your vet for advice. Additionally, this is one instance where you need a bottle of cat shampoo (buy it from the vet) and two people, one to hold the cat still and the other to shampoo and rinse. You must get the oil off cos the cat will make herself ill by trying to wash it off.
    sorry

    the only answer is

you're going to have to bath the cat

as much as they hate it haha

go to the pet shop and buy a cat shampoo

don't worry, they do stock it in most stores.

don't use too much on your cat

and make sure you towel dry it afterwards,

and then blowdry your cat for a few minutes

    hope this helped (YN) x
awww poor cat. ok you need to use proper cat shampoo or if you dont have it use yours but make sure its watered down rub in again and again making sure you avoid the eyes. wash away with warm water. towel dry making sure you rub the excess oil out. i positive this will work but if not take her to the pet parlop or the vet explain the situation (i know a bit embarrsing) but they should be abel to help. make sure you follow my instruction carefully. p.s. let me know how you get on good luck x x x x
Don't put washing up liquid on her, it will irritate her skin more.

Take the advice, contact the RSPCA, they may refer you to a detergent that will remove it rather than one which will make it worse.

wash her and then just leave her for a couple of days if u keep on washing her it willl make her coat even more greasy ... animals clean themselves (by licking) it will soon be gone

    hope this helped x
Heat oven to gas mark 5, pop cat in for an hour then enjoy! ;-)

Seriously though, I'd ask a vet or ring cats protection folk/RSPCA, they will have an answer.
You didn't say if it was hot or cold so i assume cold as it it was hot you need to rush cat to vets.Try fairy liquid but make sure you rinse it all off.
Put washing up liquid on her, that is designed to get through the oil on stuff, but dont put a lot on her at a time!
omg imagine if it had been hot!!! :O

youre gonna have to soap him up in the bath. good luck with that one, you'll be attacked!!! lol
Take it to a monastry and it can become a friar !!!!
about 15 minutes or until golden brown should do
    Have it with chips.
    Bring her to a groomer
    shave it.

How do you prevent oil from spitting out off the pan when you're frying fish?

dust it with seasoned flour(salt%26amp;pepper) makes it nice and brown and crispy and you retain the natural juice from the fish. but if you want it without flour put a lid over the pan.How do you prevent oil from spitting out off the pan when you're frying fish?
lower the temp or cover it up make sure there is that little ventalation thingy........=]How do you prevent oil from spitting out off the pan when you're frying fish?
Use kitchen paper to absorb the water then rub some salt and pepper.Lastly dust some corn flour on the fish and lower it into the frying slowly.
    Put a lid on it
Make sure you dry the fish off before pan seering it. Water is the number one enemy of hot oil and is what causes that spitting.
They make a special lid for just this problem. Its not really a lid, its made out of stainless steell and has a screen on the top and a handle, just put it on the pan and no more grease.
Buy a screened lid at either Family Dollar or Dollar General it keeps the grease from flying all over the stove top. It just a lid with a screen in it.

if you're lucky you came down flat on the sump pan and compressed the sump gasket a little.

if that's the case you might get away with tightening the bolts a little!

Worst case you came down on an angle, in which case you might have to replace the sump pan %26amp; gasket.

it's worth trying to use two gaskets With a thin bead of gasket sealant between all surfaces before going down that route!

If she insists on doing it the old-fashioned way (stovetop) then no, she does not need oil before cooking. How do you cook bacon? with oil in the pan or no oil in the pan?
SEE THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO COOK BACON ,, FRIEND HERE ARE THE SOME TIPS FOR U .,.. TO UNDERSTAND ... PLS READ THIS ,,

If the packaged sliced bacon is cold from the refrigerator, slowly slide the dull edge of a butter knife along the length between the strips, gently rocking to separate slices. Plan ahead and take the bacon out of the refrigerator thirty minutes before cooking. The slices should separate easily.

鈥?When frying bacon, it's important to keep a close eye on it and turn it often. It can burn in the blink of an eye. Older bacon will cook and burn almost twice as quickly as fresh bacon.

鈥?If you prefer very crispy bacon, choose thinner slices to fry up. Pour or baste off the fat as it accumulates in the pan. Use medium to medium-low heat. Cook slowly, turning often, to render out the most fat and help reduce shrinkage. Pricking with a fork will help alleviate any curling problems. Drain breakfast bacon on paper towels.

鈥?The fat rendered from the cooked bacon is highly-prized as a cooking oil for its flavor. After cooking the bacon, cool the rendered oil to room temperature and then pour through a fine sieve into a glass container. Cover and store in the refrigerator or freezer for future use. If you do not need the rendered fat, let it cool to room temperature, pour into a disposable metal or glass container, seal, tie up in a plastic bag, and toss into the trash. It's not wise to pour it down the drain, because it will coagulate and clog up the drain.

鈥?There are fancy microwave bacon cookers on the market which work well, but they are not necessary. Place a microwave-safe paper towel in a micro dish large enough to fit a single layer of bacon slices (4 to 6 slices). Cover with another paper towel. Six slices should take about 4 to 5 minutes on high, depending on the wattage of your microwave and the thickness of the bacon. Start checking after the first two minutes, and continue cooking at one minute intervals until you can judge the cooking time for the way you like it. Consult your microwave manual for more specific times. A rotating base in the microwave is highly recommended for even cooking, and most come with one built in these days. Remember that foods continue to cook even after the timer goes off in a microwave, so let it rest a few minutes before you dive in to let it crisp up and avoid burns. Curly bacon never bothers me, but this method reduces curling of the bacon.

鈥?Bacon can also be easily baked in the oven, resulting in amazingly flat slices. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place a rack inside a baking sheet. Lay out slices and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on desired doneness level. Voila! Crispy bacon with no curls. You can also use your broiler, but I don't recommend it. First of all, the splatters not only make a royal mess, but also cause flares. Secondly, it requires much more attention. Stick with frying, microwaving or baking.

鈥?How can you reduce splattering problems? Part of the problem arises from today's quick salt-brining method (known as pickle-curing) used by producers. The liquid naturally soaks into the meat, and you know what happens when liquid hits hot oil -- snap, crackle, pop! Be sure the bacon slices are cold from the refrigerator and start with a cold pan. Use medium to medium-low heat and take your time cooking the slices, turning often. It's preferable to thaw frozen bacon in the refrigerator to reduce moisture, but even then some of the moisture may naturally seep out. Towel off the slices before cooking to avoid excess splattering.

鈥?If you must watch your fat intake, lean smoked ham or prosciutto can be substituted in many recipes where the rendered bacon fat is not needed. Turkey, chicken and vegetarian bacon products are also available.

鈥?Most slab bacon is sold with the rind attached. Remove the rind before using. Render the fat from the rind by frying and you have cracklings, a favorite Southern snack.
Hey Dude It's easier to just put it in the Microwave, you put a paper towel on a plate put your bacon on the paper towel, then cover with another paper towel, and just repeat as many times as you want.

It's a lot better this way because you cook a lot more of the fat out of the bacon and your guaranteed it to be flat and crispy !
If cooking whole strips then no oil. If dicing into small pieces and rendering fat for another dish, then use a little olive oil, or whatever oil is in your pantry.
theres a fair bit of fat in bacon that will turn into a nonstick bacon. you can put oil, but then it comes out all greasy
i use oil and it tastes great.try it and tel me how it tastes,ok?
you dont need oil to fry bacon..its fatty and makes its own grease.
no oil. bacon will release alot of fat when you cook it. cook it over a medium to low flame not really high.
No oil. It will make it's own.
none...it forms plenty once it starts cooking.
    no oil!!!

How do I clean cooked-on oils from the outside of my pans?

I have Calphalon cast-iron pans, T-Fal Teflon coated pans (enamel outter), and a couple of stainless steel pans...all have at some point or another gotten some cooked on yuckies that I cant scrub off with my regular scratch pad. HELP! I love sources...How do I clean cooked-on oils from the outside of my pans?
I would use oven cleaner (which you would need to use outside... fumes are bad), or a product called ';bar keeper's friend'; which is non-abrasive... but if you use it on the inside of the cast-iron, it will need to be re-seasoned.How do I clean cooked-on oils from the outside of my pans?
I wet the bottom of the pan (I use this in the oven as well), sprinkle liberally with baking soda, drizzle with very hot white vinegar and scrub with a 3m Dobie scrubber. It gets everything off really easily. The baking soda and vinegar react to each other and cut through that grease. This method will not harm any of your pans but you will need to make sure you rinse them really well and re-season the cast iron one.
I've used oven cleaner with good results
oven cleaner or greased lighting works great too
Dawn makes a new product for just this purpose. It works wonderfully. It also cleans the burners on the stove. Good luck
use an orange degreaser you can get them at wal-mart or any store like that it also works good on floors and wall to get grease of them as well.. hope that helps some
Similar answer to the one about cast iron pots and pans. I've used oven cleaner on my Calphalon in a well vented area. Easier to do in warmer weather outdoors.

I've just used steel wool pads on stainless, and unless you really have to keep them mirror finish, scour marks add character to well used cookware. I'm impressed with cooks who have quality cookware, and aren't afraid to scrub it clean, rather than be afraid to scratch it.
I got a very simple and cheap one, Degreaser, thats best cleaner, works for everything!
Out in your backyard, lay down some newspapers, put the on the paper and spray the heck out of them with Easy Off Oven cleaner (or some other brand) and let them sit for about an hour and wash in hot water.
Just get some of those metal scrubbies from the grocery store. The copper one is softer and the steel(?) one is harder but can scratch some surfaces.
tea tree oil is amazingly good at removing gunky, resiny, greasy stains, rub some in with one of those scrubby green pads.
Oven cleaner works best...but you may have to heat up the pan before you spray it. Just make sure once you have heated the pan....take it outside in backyard BEFORE you spray it with oven cleaner. That way you won't have all those smelly fumes in your house.

Do i need to drop oil pan to replace crank seal on 1990 montero??

i tore the motor all the way down to the crank shaft and cant get the housing loose from motor and i wonder if the housing drops into the oil pan do i need to drop the oil pan as well...need to know it wont hold oil and i have to get it fixed.....Do i need to drop oil pan to replace crank seal on 1990 montero??
to replace the rear crank seal on this vehicle, you don't need to pull the oil pan. the trans and flywheel need to be pulled for access to the round rear crank seal. good luck, not a fun job
  • perfect makeup
  • DO I NEED TO LIFT THE MOTOR ON A 1992 GRAND PRIX TO CHANGE THE OIL PAN?

you might have to. just loosen both motor mounts and jack up the motor, or if you have something like chain blocks or a cherry picker would be better.DO I NEED TO LIFT THE MOTOR ON A 1992 GRAND PRIX TO CHANGE THE OIL PAN?
No, but my queation is why do you want to replace the oil pan?

How many times I can use the same oil to fry foods in a pan?

    Hi all,

I heard using more than once would cause cancer. Is this true? Also I notice dark remainings(tartar?) when I fry a burger, etc even though I am not overcooking it, it still occurs at the bottom of the oil.

I don't use too much oil. But I tend to use it several times. Is this bad?

I always use olive oil. Would this help to reuse it? If not, then wouldn't it cost too much to use new oil everytime you cook something?

Thanks! How many times I can use the same oil to fry foods in a pan?
it may cost a little more, but it's best to only use it once.

would you reuse your car oil?How many times I can use the same oil to fry foods in a pan?
I would never use oil more than once, the remains of the food previously cooked could still have bateria, or god knows what in it!! I imagine it is very bad for you.

You fry burgers in oil? I would buy a more fatty ground of meat and let the natural fats fry it instead of oil.

This is why I don't eat french fries at fast food places anymore.
    Hi back,

The best oil for frying is likely canola oil. This has a high burn tolerance and costs a lot less than olive oil and olive oil burns easily too, like butter.

Soooo, I would use canola oil for frying and if you don't cook at a high temperature it will last through several fryings til you notice that it has begun to smell or when it begins to turn dark. Note: Frying potatoes will take out some of the odor and rejuvenate repeated oil use.

If you fry fish it's usually a one time deal cause the oil will smell afterwards. But, you can save it and use it again to cook fish in.

I would use less oil for frying hamburgers, sometimes, just a light glaze of oil and then heat the pan to just above medium and drop in the burger and cook the burger at just a little bit higher than medium.

If you like fried onions with your burger, just add a little bit of oil, maybe a tablespoon of canola oil to the pan after your burgers are done and then the brown stuff will come up with the cooked onions. Delicious!

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks
If you use it more then once it wont taste good.
    Reusing Frying Oil

In the test kitchen, we regularly deep-fry potatoes, chicken, and more, so we like to reuse our frying oil. But there are some caveats. First of all, oil can transfer flavors from food to food. For instance, once a batch of oil has been used to fry fish, we discard it. We have found that you can fry multiple batches of chicken or potatoes in the same oil, but at some point the oil starts to break down and smoke. We wondered why.

The Role of Free Fatty Acids

The principal component of frying oil is the triglyceride, which consists of three long fatty acid tails connected to a molecule called glycerol. When the fatty acids are released from glycerol, they are called ';free'; fatty acids. The amount of these free fatty acids in the oil is an indication of the suitability of the oil for high-temperature frying. When we measured peanut oil, our favorite frying oil, we found a very low concentration of free fatty acids.

    Smoke Point

A low concentration of free fatty acids translates to a high smoke point. Depending on the recipe, deep-frying usually occurs between 325 and 375 degrees Fahrenheit. When we tested the smoke points of four fats, we found peanut oil had the highest: 451 degrees. (Canola oil was the runner-up at 442 degrees.) This number will vary from brand to brand based on several factors, including how much the oil has been refined. For instance, unrefined peanut oil has a much lower smoke point than a refined peanut oil and is not suitable for frying. In general, refined oils are relatively tasteless.

    Why Oil Breaks Down

Even though peanut oil has a high smoke point, the oil will eventually start to smoke during normal use. That's because water from the food reacts with the oil to release the fatty acids. The more you use an oil, the lower the smoke point becomes. To demonstrate this, we fried three consecutive batches of chicken in 8 cups of peanut oil. we then filtered the used oil and heated it again to the smoke point. The smoke point had dropped 28 degrees. When we had the used oil analyzed for free fatty acid content, we learned that the total amount had jumped 37 percent. While patting food dry before frying can retard oil degradation, water is not the only enemy of oil. Heating to the smoke point also promotes decomposition, as can salt if it is added to food before frying. Keeping oil clean as you fry also helps to extend its life.

    The Bottom Line

Choose an oil with a smoke point well above normal frying temperatures so you have a built-in cushion against the effects of reusing the oil. (This is one reason we like to fry with peanut oil.) Make sure not to overheat the oil (monitoring the temperature of the oil with a thermometer is essential.) Finally, limit contact with salt and water and skim bits of food from the oil.
It seems everything causes cancer these days. I fry chicken on a regular basis %26amp; I do reuse the oil....once. If you think you think you need to refreshen used oil, cut up and cook a potato or even use french fries in the old oil. It does make it better. I never reuse oil from frying fish. Olive oil is used for quick cooking like stir frying. Peanut or vegatable oil is for deep frying.
You don't have to change the oil everytime. Resturants do not change it daily. But when it starts looking nasty %26amp; all Black then you know that it is time for a change.

I am sure that if you are frying burgers then some of the meat is falling in the oil %26amp; you are seeing that at the bottom of the pan.
Why in the world are you using oil to fry a burger?!?! Just put it in a pan, it has enough grease in it to cook all by itself, jeez, I'm wigging out over here! Do you want to have a heart attack that badly? Do you eat butter with a spoon? Frying a burger in oil, you're nuts!
If it starts smoking alot and is all cloudy, change it. Olive oil has a low flash point so be carelu.
