Is it possible to change the oil pan gasket on a '96 Ford F150 straight 6, without pulling the engine out?

YES!!! On that particular truck all you need to do, is unbolt the engine mounts, and lift the engine high enough to where the oil pan will clear the transmission during removal. You might as well replace the pan as well since they are known to rust through. The tricky part of the installation, is keeping the rubber gasket aligned during reinstallation of the pan bolts. You may need to remove the oil pump as well, but that's not a big deal. Just remember to reinstall the pump shaft properly. I know, that rubber gasket is pretty cheesy, isn't it? Hope this helps. Is it possible to change the oil pan gasket on a '96 Ford F150 straight 6, without pulling the engine out?
Yes...but you have to unbolt the motor mounts and lift the motor enough to get the pan out/in.....sometimes it is quicker/better just to pull the motor and do ';all'; the repairs that are ';due'; around the same time. Good luck !!! :)Is it possible to change the oil pan gasket on a '96 Ford F150 straight 6, without pulling the engine out?
You got all the yes answers, but, when you buy your gasket make sure to go with FelPro! The rubber gasket is one piece and it comes with four threaded pins. You screw the pins in the corners and push the gasket up onto them. The gasket remains in place then you push the pan up and that stays in place while you get all the other bolts started.
Yes, although it is extremely diffulcult. The hard part is cleaning your mating surfaces. To ensure a proper seal both mating surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and dried. If you take you time and use sand paper it can be done. Use a mirror to inspect your work and be sure to get it all. Next wipe as much of the old gasket as you can with a rag. Then rinse with water or gas and let drain through the drain hole. Allow 15 to 30 minutes to dry before installation. Brake klean works good here. Good luck I almost forgot, take both m/mounts loose and jack up high as possible. Do not place jack under front pulley or balancer [ it will damage crank or main bearings ].
