Check with a mechanic. The pan may be able to be re- tapped.
In extremely rare cases only the threads on the plug are bad, - in which case you could just replace the plug! But most likely if the plug is damaged, the threads are bad on the oil pan too!
Take the plug down to your local parts supplier, and show it to him, tell him what your problem is, -and he will measure it, ---- then give you the next ';oversize'; plug. This plug has self tapping portion that enlarges the hole in pan (and re-cuts threads). This should solve your problem!
Next time you take it to have the oil changed, tell them to replace the plug with a ';hand wrench';! Power impact wrenches tear the threads out (by over tightening the plug too much)! They're very quick, but hard on plugs!!
The same thing goes for your lugnuts on wheels, -- check to see if you can get them loose with ';tire wrench'; in the car. If they put them on too tight, -you will have to have an impact wrench to remove them again! This also causes the lug-bolts to break off all too often! And of course if you have a flat ';on the road'; and you can't get the lugnuts off, you are stuck! Your ';provided'; lugwrench in the car is no match to an impact wrench!!
if the pan thread are ok then no, if not then you can ream and tap the pan and rplace the factory plug with an oversized one to match..

jack up the rodeo take off all for of thoses new tires and wheels
go and find a chevy or ford or dodge or toyota or nissan running or not put your new tires and wheels on it and go home happy
if you cant do that
it is easy put the rodeo on jacks stands crawl under have a few tools pull the oil pan and replace the gasket the job on that car is easy you have a lot of room to work and should not take to long half of a day at worst 1 hour at best if you can not do that

Did you drain the oil and plastic pieces came out the drain hole? Did you drop the pan and found plastic pieces? No, it isn't standard. Half a quart probably won't hurt (unless you have a lot of steep hills in your area), but too much oil in the engine can make the oil level high enough so that the crankshaft hits the oil while it is spinning around and this will make the oil foam up. When oil foams up it will pretty much loose all of its lubricating properties until it settles back into a liquid and also the oil pump won't pump the foam very well.
over filling can make the oil foam and cause a seal or gasket to blow.you should keep it right at the full mark,but if its a little low it shouldnt hurt nothing.a little low is better then too full.

As the crankshaft turns in the engine, it dips down into the oil and froths it - or adds air to the oil. Since the oil pump is very good at pumping fluid but not air, the oil pump does not pump the oil efficiently and can starve the engine of lubricant.
It is a good idea to check the oil level before you leave and have them correct the problem right then.

Whatever the reason was, take the car back to the dealer and tell them the problem so they don't do it again. You paid for the service, so you expect the right service too(altho I agree 1/2 qt extra will not harm your car). But still that wsn't right.
The biggest problem with having to much oil in your engine is that the extra oil could cause your engine gaskets and seals to blow and then start leaking. Having one half quart to much oil above your full mark on your engine dipstick normally will not hurt anything. But since your selling dealer added to much to begin with; you should take it back to that dealer and have them drain the one half quart from your engine so that you can sleep better.
When r u checking it, u need to check it when its cold. And half a quart isnt to much nor will it damage the motor.

its maybe not a cracked block, you will have to check it out first but it sounds like the cylinder head gasket. the water in your rad goes round the engine block and cylinder head to cool, the oil goes around in much the same way, only takes a different route, when the head gasket blows, or splits, it allows the coolant[water] to mix with the oil, thats how it got into your pan, you should see a light browny colour deposit in your cover thats emulsified oil, oil mixed with waterI have a car which consumes the liquid in the radiator very fast, I have also found water in the oil pan,?

It could be the intake gasket..... if its the 3.1, 3.4 v6... they are prone for this after the switch to dexcool and the gaskets used couldn't stand up to it.
You've got serious trouble, Hoss. Either you've cracked the engine block or the cylinder head, or you have a blown head gasket. Get a compression tester from your local auto parts store, and do a compression test on all the cylinders. You're looking for differences between cylinders. Two cylinders with equally low compression in relation to the rest indicates a blown head gasket. One cylinder with low compression in relation to the rest usually indicates a blown head gasket or a cracked head. If all the cylinders have the same compression, you probably have a cracked block. I suspect it's been overheated, this is the most common cause. Either way, it's serious engine work, you most likely would be best off replacing the entire motor.
As galaxy says,but fingers crossed it may be afailed head gasket which is cheaper to have rectified.
